What is a Notary?
A notary is an impartial witness appointed by the Secretary of State. The notary's job is to identify a person through satisfactory evidence prior to notarizing/ signing a document.

Can a notary give legal advice or explain my document?
A Notary public is not permitted to draft documents, explain documents to the signer, nor give legal advice.
What should I bring to my appointment?
The signer must be personally present with a current and valid identification card (issued within the last 5 years). If you do not have a current ID, 2 credible witnesses can be used as an acceptable form of ID. The credible witnesses must have current ID, must know you (the signer) personally, and be willing to be placed under oath with no financial or personal gain from the signing.
Do I have to provide a fingerprint?
Yes
I require all signers to provide a fingerprint for all Notarizations.
Can my document be notarized if I already signed it?
Yes and No
If the document requires a Notary Acknowledgement certificate, then the document can be notarized if already signed.
If the document requires a Notary Jurat certificate, the notary must witness the signer sign the document as well as be placed under oath.

Is my personal information secure?
Yes
Your information is locked and secured in a safe. I am the only person who has access to your information.
